Regular mopping has several benefits. Not only will it make your floor look better but it’ll also improve your health. How? By removing germs and allergens (e.g. pet dander, dust, pollen, etc). Given all that, there’s really no reason why you wouldn’t want to stay up to date with your cleaning schedule.
Don’t have a mop? Then you’ll want to get one (the only exception is if you have carpeted floors). Make sure to do your research beforehand, though, as there are many different types out there, each of which has its own set of pros and cons. Take steam mops, for example, they’re fantastic for sanitizing but they’re not all that great for removing stubborn stains. Don’t forget to consider the type of floor that you have as well. As it is, some mops can’t be used for certain materials.

Simpli-Magic is a brand that’s exclusive to Amazon. Aside from cleaning products (e.g. spin mops, steam mops, etc), they also sell towels, washcloths, tote bags, tubs, squeeze bottles, and more. While they might not be as “big” as some of the other companies out there, they do offer a one-year warranty on their mops.
The Simpli-Magic Spin Mop can be used for most types of floors including stone, concrete, laminate, hardwood, vinyl, and tile. Easy to use, it comes with a bucket that features hand-free wringing—that way, you won’t have to worry about dirtying your hands. Not only is it great for dirt and dust, but you can also use it to remove grime with ease. Just use it with a cleaner! The microfiber mop heads will soak it up instantly so that you can use it efficiently.
The Simpli-Magic Spin Mop comes as a kit. In other words, you’ll get all the parts you need to get started—and more. Here’s a list of things that are included in the box:
Assembly: While the mop doesn’t come with any instructions, it’s fairly easy to assemble. Basically, you just have to connect the parts together. Start by inserting the bottom end of the handle into the white plastic part that’s on the mop head—twist it and you should hear a click. From there, you just have to add one of the mop pads to the bottom.
One of the great things about the mop is that it comes with four mop pads. Basically, it means that you get three extras since you only use one at a time. They’re also easy to attach as they go right on the base.
Aside from that, there’s the bucket, which is the main highlight of the product. The way it’s designed, you put the mop head into the wringer and that’ll be enough to extract the dirty water. What’s more, is that it even comes with a soap dispenser. That way, you can easily add soap as needed while you’re cleaning the mop.
Last but not least, the bucket also comes with a drain plug. This allows you to easily drain away the dirty water once you’re done; you won’t have to lift the entire bucket of water up.
This goes without saying but you want to choose a mop that’s made from durable materials. For one thing, a metal handle is always better than a plastic handle—it’s able to withstand more repeated use and will last longer. You also won’t have to worry about it cracking if you accidentally drop it to the ground.
As far as the Simpli-Magic Spin Mop goes, it does have a metal handle. In fact, it’s made from stainless steel, which happens to be one of the more durable metals. The same thing goes for the mop base—it’s made from the same material. The only plastic is on the “joints” (the things that let you extend the handle).
The bucket, on the other hand, however, is mostly made of plastic—with the exception of the wringer, which is made of stainless steel. With that said, it’s not prone to breaking as it doesn’t contain any unnecessary moving parts (e.g. spinning axis, foot metal).
Last but not least, the mop pads. Like we mentioned earlier, they’re made from a microfiber cloth material, which makes them great at picking up loose debris. They’re also machine washable so you can clean them easily after each mopping session.
Here are a few things about the spin mop that you might want to know about:
The Mop Handle Is Short
The mop handle is not very long at all—even if you fully extend it. Unless you’re petite, you will have to bend over to use it, which kind of defeats the purpose of having a telescoping handle in the first place.
The Wringer Doesn’t Always Work
The wringer seems great in theory but it doesn’t always work. Yes, it will spin but it’s not nearly fast enough to get rid of the excess water. For one thing, there’s no way to put pressure on the mop head so that it’ll wring out.
Product Doesn’t Match Description
The description states that the wringer is made out of stainless steel and you can see that in the pictures. Despite that, however, many people have received one that’s made from plastic. Not only that, but the image makes it look like there are two separate compartments in the bucket that keep the clean and dirty water separate. In reality, however, it’s just one compartment so there’s no separation whatsoever.
Fortunately, you can always get a refund but there’s nothing cool about getting a misadvertised product.
Bucket Is Smaller Than It Looks
The bucket is a lot smaller than what it looks like in the images. If anything, it’s just big enough so that you can fit the mop head in. It also doesn’t hold a ton of water so be aware of that.
Mop Head Is Not Very Big
The mop head isn’t very big either so you won’t be able to cover a large area when you’re mopping. In other words, you’ll end up having to do more work. Interestingly enough, however, if it was any bigger, it probably wouldn’t fit into the bucket!
Mop Design Isn’t Very Stable
The mop may have a stainless steel pole, but it’s not all that stable. For one thing, it tends to flip and flop around while you’re wiping the floors down. Not to mention that the plastic round part on the base also hits the floor—so be careful or you might end up scratching your surface!
The Metal Component Rusts Easily
Even if you’re lucky enough to get a stainless steel wringer, you might run into rust issues. To prevent that, you’ll have to make sure that it’s completely dry after each use.
If you can get past its design flaws, the mop does do an okay job of cleaning the floors. The mop head might be on the small side, but you can still use it to remove pet hair, dust, dirt, and other small particles from the ground. Just make sure to use it with a cleaner as plain water won’t be enough to do the trick. Keep in mind, however, that it’s not meant to be used for scrubbing—or rather, it can’t be used for scrubbing.
The way it’s designed, it’s simply not meant to withstand the pressure of scrubbing. You can try, but it won’t be very efficient. Remember, the piece on the bottom also has a tendency of touching the floor so if you apply too much pressure, you’ll likely end up scratching the surface, as we said earlier.
In terms of the bucket…it’s not all that great either for cleaning the mop either. For one thing, it’s small and the wringer doesn’t actually do any “spinning”—you’re the one who does that. Given that, it might be difficult to actually get the mop clean once you’re done mopping an area. The last thing that you want to do is to keep mopping with dirty water on the head!
Overall, it’s hard to recommend this product—it simply doesn’t work that well (mostly due to design issues with the mop head and the bucket). If you can get it for cheap, however, it might be worth a try.
The Simpli-Magic Spin Mop is fairly affordable. Currently, on Amazon, it’s listed for $29.98, which includes free shipping for those within the U.S. If anything, it’s priced competitively as most similar mops are in the $25-$35 range.
It doesn’t require many extra purchases either. Sometime down the line, you might want to buy some mop head refills but they won’t cost you all that much. At the time of this writing, however, it seems that they’re currently sold out in their Amazon store.
Remember, you don’t have to buy a specific cleaning solution either. You can use whatever you have at home, whether it’s a commercial product or white vinegar!
The Simpli-Magic Spin Mop is great in theory but it doesn’t deliver all that well. For one thing, the bucket doesn’t always come with a metal wringer. Even if you happen to get one, it’s not that effective for wringing out the dirty water. This means that there’s a high chance that you’ll end up mopping the floor with the same dirty water that you were trying to get rid of. Not to mention that the mop handle is short. Unless you’re under 5 feet, you’ll probably have to hunch your back when you’re using it, which makes me wonder what the purpose of the telescoping handle is. The good news, though, is that it’s rather cheap. You can get the whole kit for under $30 and it comes with three extra pads so you won’t have to get refills for a while.
